Shiny and New - first blog post!

Here's to my first blog post! While I'm sitting in front of the fire, with my son off school sick, I thought now would be a good time to make a start on my blog.

Although I have been making silver jewellery for over a year now, I have only just launched my website! I started making jewellery years ago, around 5 years ago, I started beading for fun and to do craft markets but after a while, I wanted something to challenge me and I wanted to aim to make a proper business out of it, making it my main source of income which I couldn't get from beading.

I started a course in Gower Swansea College teaching the basics of silversmithing which ignited in me a HUGE passion and interest in this new craft.

I started buying silver to practise at home but the cost of the silver and tools was surprisingly high, especially to me, a single mum starting a new business. I did what I could and started making and selling small pieces to build up some profit to enable me to get some of the essential tools. Slowly slowly I started to increase my customer base through social media and working at as many markets as possible.

I varied my ranges and included ethical stones as well as using new techniques and relied heavily on friends and family sharing my product posts on Facebook and Instagram and as time went on, I had such heart warming feedback and post shares from new and returning customers. These post shares made an incredible difference to my sales, I was genuinely stunned!

I do markets as much as possible, my son comes along too, who is always a delightful addition to my day, even if we have to bring along his Samsung pad for light relief for him!!

I now have a very supportive partner who accepts we have to sacrifice weekend time together so that I can be at markets to make my business as strong and successful as possible.

The aim I have for my jewellery is to make it affordable but yet high quality and easy on the eye! I want everyone to be able to enjoy wearing silver jewellery, feeling great and not having to worry about the cost.

If you've read this far, thank you!

I plan to blog as I go, I cant guarantee it will be weekly as life gets very busy, but I'll be at it when possible! However in the mean time, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my products, service, or anything else for that matter!

Thank you,

Tania
